Use heavy machinery to rebuild roads, bridges, and industries
RoadCraft is a simulation game. It is a 3D game that puts you in charge of a disaster recovery company specializing in restoring sites devastated by natural disasters. The game tasks you with operating heavy machinery to clear debris, repair damaged infrastructure, and rebuild local industries. From clearing roads and rebuilding bridges to restoring factories and power grids, it gives players a detailed and realistic experience in disaster recovery operations.
RoadCraft is driven by a story-focused campaign where you’re responsible for reviving areas hit by natural disasters. You’ll travel across eight different maps, each with unique biomes, challenges, and buildings.
Rebuild, recover, restore
In RoadCraft, whether you’re navigating through mountains, deserts, or flooded areas, your expertise and machines are essential in bringing life back to these devastated areas. You’ll need to manage your fleet of vehicles, from bulldozers and cranes to transport trucks and asphalt pavers, ensuring that each machine is used efficiently to complete tasks. One of the standout features is its realistic physics engine.
This entire engine lets you interact with elements like sand, wood, and asphalt. The machines behave differently depending on their load and the terrain, adding a layer of complexity and immersion to the gameplay. As you progress, you unlock new vehicles and tools, which you can customize with your company’s logo and colors, adding a personal touch to your fleet.
In addition to the single-player campaign, it also offers cooperative multiplayer for up to four players. You can divide tasks among your team or work together on larger projects, adding a social and strategic layer to the experience. However, there is a learning curve for operating different machinery can be steep for new players. Some maps and biomes may feel repetitive after extended play.
Post-Launch Update
With the launch of RoadCraft, the developers are thrilled to see players enjoying the experience. At the same time, player feedback, including suggestions and concerns, is highly prioritized to help improve various aspects of the game. The ultimate goal is to deliver the best possible experience for everyone, whether you're a newcomer or a longtime fan of their previous titles.
One of the glaring issues currently being addressed through a hotfix is the presence of blurry textures that make the world feel less detailed and polished. As a temporary solution, players can reduce the visual quality in the settings until the next patch is released. Another issue involves oversized foliage textures that fail to blend seamlessly into the environment, disrupting player immersion.
On a related note, here are a few clarifications about the DLC content and the game's various editions. Players who purchased the Rebuild Edition already have access to the upcoming DLC, which features the exclusive day-one bonus, Invictus Type A, and will be able to access it once it launches. Meanwhile, those who own the Standard Edition can now upgrade by purchasing the Rebuild Expansion as a separate add-on.
A free 4K Texture Pack DLC is also available for PC that can be downloaded separately from the RoadCraft Steam page, offering upgraded high-resolution textures for players seeking improved visual detail and clarity. However, it’s important to remember that this add-on is specifically designed for high-end setups only, as it requires considerably more graphics and memory resources compared to the standard version of the game.
Another thing to look forward to in the upcoming update is Hard Mode, providing a more challenging playthrough for players. New emergency vehicles that come with built-in winch devices are also expected, including the MULE T1 Utility Truck and the Nota Allegro Utility Transport. Although this is still exclusive to AI convoys, the next patch will make it available for players.
Heavy machinery, real physics
Roadcraft is immersive and rewarding for fans of simulation games. The detailed environments, realistic physics, and variety of heavy machinery make every task feel authentic. Managing the logistics of disaster recovery, from clearing debris to repairing infrastructure, requires strategic planning and efficient use of resources. The cooperative multiplayer mode adds an extra layer of teamwork, making it a fun and engaging experience whether you’re playing alone or with friends.
